Horizontal

4' High x 8' Long - Slots run the entire 8' length of the panel

horizontal slatwall
  • Recommended and most common groove direction
  • Highest value for your money
  • Installed without difficulty on any wall with proper hardware
  • Simply will make your retail space stand out like never before

Vertical

8' High x 4' Long  - Slots run the entire 4' length of the panel

horizontal slatwall
  • Generally used for covering columns
  • Prices are slightly higher for this style

** Please note - Discount Shelving and Displays does not recommend using both horizontal and vertical slatwall panels in the same run, the grooves will not align properly. This is due to production with two different machines.

Lesson #2: Knowing The Measurements Of Your Retail Space

When ordering your slatwall, it is imperative that you know the size/dimensions of your retail space. This will avoid undue waste and additional freight charges when ordering unneeded panels

Lesson #3: The Different Groove Spacing On Your Slatwall Panel

What is Groove Spacing and what is Standard Groove Spacing?

  • Groove Spacing is the distance of space between grooves on a slatwall panel.
  • Standard Groove Spacing is 3" on center. This means that from the center of one groove to the center of the next groove the measurement is 3".
  • * There are different groove spacing options for slatwall panels available at an additional cost. These cuts are custom made and will increase lead-time. You may choose from 3", 6", and 12" (not shown).

For something completely different try Cube Wall!

If you are looking for something unique, there is another option called Cube Wall. Vertical and horizontal grooves are cut with 6" or 12" cube dimensions that allows you to get all of the advantages of slatwall with a new look. The vertical channels break up the endless horizontal lines that give slatwall its distinctive appearance. This option is available in many different colors at additional cost.

** Please note - Discount Shelving and Displays does not recommend using both horizontal and vertical slatwall panels in the same run, the grooves will not align properly. This is due to production with two different machines.

Lesson #4: The Different Strengths Of Your Slatwall Panel

All Slatwall has the same strength regardless of the finish. The panels are made with same "core" material: 3/4 " thick Medium Density Fiberboard. The only way to increase strength of a slatwall panel is to order panels with metal inserts. If the function of the slatwall panel is to hold a heavier weight capacity or if you are using hangrails with the slatwall, then it is recommended that you choose this option. There are certain inserts available for a more decorative look, but they do not increase strength.

Lesson #5: The Perfect Finish For a Slatwall Panel

This could be the hardest of all lessons at the Slatwall Academy. Finding the perfect fit for your taste and your budget is not easy. There are many standard finishes to choose from. They are:

Paint Grade

These brown/tan color panels can be used as it is or can be painted in your favorite color to match your individual merchandising color needs. Lowest priced slatwall panels available.

High Pressure (HPL)

Laminate finished panels are the most durable panels available. They are available in hundreds of colors and designs. When you want your walls to coincide with your fixtures and achieve the best look for your merchandise, we recommend a HPL finish.

Melamine/Pressure Laminate (LPL)

The look of high priced laminate at a fraction of the cost. Avoids the inconvience of painting. A variety of solid colors and wood grain finishes are available. This is the most cost effective slatwall panel.

Real Wood Veneer

Natural wood finished panels bring warmth to your retail space. Red Oak, Birch and Maple are standard finishes. These panels are unfinished but can be finished on site with lacquer, stain or varnish.

High Clear Mirrorplex

These panels are made with a laminated acrylic finish to give the open feel of mirror, while still providing a multitude of merchandising capabilities. Each sheet is shipped with a paper mask to protect the surface.
